It’s officially the fall season, well at least in the fashion world. Labor Day marks the end of the summer season and immediate following Labor Day is Fashion Week. Fall 2010 fashion week is the first fashion week in over 15 years that isn’t being held at Bryant Park. The new home is the prestigious Lincoln Center. Also, Fashion’s Night Out (F.N.O.) was be bigger and better this year and Vogue is sponsoring a public fashion show tonight that will feature tons of popular models and designers and is expected to have thousands of attendees. Whew!!! Fashion week is here guys and it’s taking September by storm.

Halle Berry is on the cover of U.S. Vogue’s pretigious Septemeber issue. Sporting a new bob, she chats about her break-up with her baby daddy Gabriel Aubry (GORGEOUS) while wearing incredible couture gowns from Armani, Marc Jacobs, Escada and Vera Wang. She is the first black woman to be featured on Vogue’s September issue since Naomi did back in 1989. Wow Vogue, it really took you guys 21 whole years to have another black woman on your September cover.

Being a black woman, I applaud Vogue’s attempt to add more women of color to their September issue, but I’m not too keen on having Halle Berry grace the cover. Don’t get me wrong I love Halle, but she’s not what I really call a fashion icon. So for her to be on the cover the September issue just doesn’t make sense to me. There are so many other black women who are fashion icons that could have graced the September cover (i.e. Grace Jones, BeyoncĂ©, Zoe Kravitz, Naomi Campbell) but Halle is beautiful and she does sell magazines so perhaps Vogue has an alternative intentions on whom should be a cover girl.

I love September issues. Although “Vogue” is the most iconic, I think every fashion magazine has something to offer in their fall issues. Marie Claire (whom I applaud for always having amazing fashion) tagged Olsen twin Mary-Kate as their September covergirl and shook things a bit by creating three different covers for the issue.

The interview itself, I admit was bland and uninteresting, but Mary-Kate’s pictorials are amazing and she looks incredibly fierce in all her outfits. Yay, Marie Clarie for acquiring a fashonista like Mary-Kate who can model this year’s trends the right way.
